Upgrading a Premier Financial Lender on 9r1

Background

At the heart of providing for America’s future, the Company manages $180 billion in education loans, serves 10 million customers and administers more than $17.5 billion in 529 college-savings plans.  From a spend management perspective, the Company had been an Ariba customer for several years.  However, in May 2010 the Company was faced with the challenge of identifying the best way to move forward with Ariba Spend Management, given a posted deadline to upgrade to 9r1 combined with the challenges of downsizing.

The Company Procurement Organization needed objective insights on the value of the pending upgrade as well as advise on the continuing usage of the downstream modules which included Buyer, eForms, Category Procurement, Contract Compliance, and Analysis, especially given limited resources with intimate knowledge of Ariba Spend Management. 

Based on its proven experience with Ariba and upgrades overall, the Company selected Shelby as a partner that could provide leadership on Ariba 9r1 product capabilities by referencing dozens of Ariba upgrade experiences, manage all detailed upgrade tasks, and provide the Company with the additional, yet necessary knowledge transfer for a return on its investment.
