Global Petroleum Leader
September 2009 – October 2010
Navigating a Global Petroleum Leader through a SaaS deployment
Background
Over the past year Shelby has been working with a $30B global integrated energy company engaged in the exploration and production of crude oil and the marketing and refining of natural resources. As part of an initiative to improve its ability to manage spend, the Company selected the Ariba On-Demand platform for managing contracts while continuing to work with Procuri Sourcing, a product acquired by Ariba, Inc. in September 2007.
The challenge for the Company was coming up with a strategy for implementing new functionality for Ariba Contract Management, migrating off-Procuri and understanding the overall value of how SaaS would fit with their enterprise environment focused deployment of SAP.
Getting Contract Management Off the Ground
The Company started their contract initiative with an original go-live date of April 2009, but was postponed due to various technical challenges. On the tail-end of a forestalled project, the Company needed project management and technical application leadership to turn the project around and prepare for a new go-live date set for the end of September 2009. As a result of this frustration, the Company engaged Shelby to get the project back on track. Shelby provided its assistance by engaging one of its leading project managers and Subject Matter Experts in Ariba and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) deployments.
