Improving Data Accuracy & Reporting Credibility

Another large challenge with the SAP SRM system was improving overall data entry accuracy and integrity at the field level to improve data consistency, reduce re-work, and improve system controls from a reporting perspective. Some of the challenges included the following:

Sourcing Cockpit – Zero/Negative Quantity Items

  • Changes were being required sometimes almost every hour to reflect the proper quantity.
  • Incorrect order amounts were also preventing orders from being closed correctly with the issues being a combination of incorrect configuration and improper design.
  • Expeditors had to request the configuration team to clean up the data every so often to no longer see zero/negative quantity items in the Sourcing Cockpit.

Catalog Management Optimization & User Defaults

  • Unloading Point/Requester Information and 3rd party hosted catalogs (ePlus) were not defaulting for End Users.
  • Users had the pain to enter and select the same information every time they want to create a catalog item.

Internal Material Master

  • Material Master pricing was not being calculated consistently.
  • Lack consistent procurement of Store Items for Users.
  • Pricing is being affected by updates from the third-party catalog solution, ePlus.
